New Companion and Lots of Work!

27 Aug

Hey paps! My companion is great we are really the same person and both enjoyed playing video games! He goes home in 3 months but is in no way trunky, he is one of the hardest working missionaries in the mission, when you put us together that makes some big time results! We are actually having a baptism every week here which is pretty dang cool!

Ha-ha 10 lessons a week ouch! The 24 was just lessons with investigators and members, we actually average almost 50 lessons overall ha-ha so it’s pretty busy here! The church is going crazy about their missionary work right now!

I can pretty much understand anything anybody says to me now in a basic Ilonggo accent, but the other dialects are somewhat difficult though, but I’m way better than all the people in my batch because in my last area there were 3 different dialects used, and here they speak a lot of Ilonggish (mixed English and Illonggo) so it’s pretty easy to pick up!

Coolest Recent convert here, he stopped smoking like 12 cigarettes a day and used to be a total drunk, but now he is such a stud! Nice to see his heart softened, even his family is saying how much nicer he is, and he is working a ton now, his responsibility is to gather books and organize them and he takes it way seriously its awesome he is a pretty cool guy now, and his 9 year old kid will be baptized on Saturday and I think he might be able to baptize him, pretty much a miracle of a change in this guy!

Everything rules here I have set up a whole week of dinner appointments with our rich less active members ha-ha, they feed us so much food I’m getting a little pudgy going, nothing mountain biking won’t fix when I get home!

Anyways love you pops keep those primary kids under control!

Aside

Selfless

19 Aug

I do love this time in the mission when they have so much to do, they feel like they have to wrote fast and move on.  When Eric, Colin’s brother was in Korean on his mission, I remember the letter he wrote saying it was a bit of a relief to think of someone else for a change.

Hello all so much to write this week so I’m just going to blast it out to all of ya! Ha-ha!

So this week was pretty crazy ha-ha! We taught like 50 lessons, it was crazy basically we have 15 minutes to teach and we have to run to the next house! When you have two Americans it’s so easy, Philippinos love tall Americans and Swain is six five so we get work done here ha-ha!

So we had a investigator come to church this week, which is a miracle in that of its self, but… she also has hole in her heart so that is pretty legit ha-ha she really wants to get baptized, hopefully she doesn’t die before that :p

I went on splits with our scary EQ president, he was pretty awesome, he was so bold to the less actives I just watched them argue and laugh ha-ha!

I rebuked and old man this week, he was the first branch president and he kept griefing the bishop, so I went in there with guns blazing and just threw down some scripture.

I get fed 5 times this week, and I have to work out hard so I can stay fit ha-ha! They are just feeding us cake and rice, all they eat is fat and carbs… perfect weightlifting diet though! But I have to weights to lift! So I found a sledgehammer and I just hit stuff with it and lift 5 gallon water jugs and push the bishop’s car around ha-ha!

Everybody back home is getting pregnant and married so that’s cool.

I’m getting stepped up to District Leader soon so that’s fun.

So the sisters asked me if this couple could get married and be baptized, only when I found out they were brother and sister did I say… No. We played a joke on them and told them to put covers over their open water containers so there would “be no accidents of people falling into them and drowning” and they did it ahhahaha!

Anyways that’s my week I love you guys!

Transferred

19 Aug

So yep I got transferred this week, transfers are not that cool really it’s just a phone call from the AP’s they just say “pack your stuff go to Galo tomorrow” and that’s what you do ha-ha you just pack up and meet your comp, and b-line it right to your area ha-ha!

So my comp is Swain he is cool we get a long great and he speaks great Ilonggo so it helps me a lot with the language!

This week we had 5 dinner appointments, because we live in a pretty rich area, these people think we are like goats they just feed us unlimited food! And we went to MCDONALDS TWICE!!! Ha-ha I spent like 8 dollars which is a fortune in the Philippino world on food it was way amazing to eat real MICKEY DEES! So that was freaking sweet!

Today is 6 months ha-ha so that was pretty sweet, does not really feel like I have been here that long but I was in Inayawan for a long time!

This area rocks it’s the world’s biggest Barrangay, it’s just a relocation zone for people so there are like millions of people here, it has 3 wards and we cover 1 and a 1/2 of them!

We have so many people to teach too so it’s really nice.

I chastised an old man on assignment from the Bishop, he is some old grumpy pioneer member and just says dumb things in his testimony and scares everybody from the church, so I just whipped out my New Testament and now he does not do it anymore its nice! Missionaries have some high authority and respect here because we know a lot about everything, and when everybody is a convert they have deep respect for us so it’s pretty cool ha-ha!

So that is pretty much my week, just eaten and teaching ha-ha! I miss you guys but the mission just keeps speeding up and never ever slows down its pretty crazy!

 Love E Boothe!

Pizza, Hamburgers and Ghosts

6 Aug

Hello again Parental Units,

I am well and doing well, as you may have or haven’t heard, I have been transferred this time.

My new area is called Handumanan 2nd! Yes it’s a stake, the word “handum” in Ilonggo means desire, and yes this area very much fits its name, it probably the best area in the mission in my opinion (even I don’t know really)

My companion in 6 foot 5 inches and weighs maybe 180 pounds, he is very skinny, but he is cool. He is from California and he goes home in December!! ha-ha I love the kid we get along so well!

So not much to talk about really, but we got fed 3 times this week and I am worried about getting fat, our district shortest person is 6 feet tall, we are giant white people and it is the best district.

We baptized a guy I only taught once this week, but he wants to go on a mission so it’s pretty cool, and this week, we will be baptizing a guy who looks like Michael Jackson and he is pretty chill!

I eat pizza every Monday know, I even had real hamburger last week, it was delectable oh my gosh, angus beef, sooo goood! errr derr errr!

Umm.. Thank you guys so much for your support to Elder Boothe, I love it! My mission is getting really good right now and we are working our freaking butts, we are just finding people and teaching like crazy, I always have a headache from talking sooo much all day! And we always have good people to teach 🙂 I am so happy right now!

But our apartment is haunted ha-ha we saw a ghost take a picture of us it was scary, so we called over a spirit lady and she burned a carrot to get the bad spirits out it was pretty funny ha-ha-ha!

Anyway I love you guys keep going strong!
